Listed Building Conversions
Listed and historic buildings can make some of the best development schemes in Scotland, but they carry more risk than new build. We help owners and developers find a use and a design that the planning authority and Historic Environment Scotland can support, and that still stacks up financially.
How we approach it
The building first. We look at its condition, its significance and what can realistically change before any design is fixed.
Viability early. Conversion costs are harder to predict than new build, so we test whether the scheme works before money is spent on detailed design.
Consent. We agree the principles through pre-application discussion, then coordinate the design team through planning permission and listed building consent.
Our experience
Our work includes a heritage-led masterplan for the former Scottish Agricultural College at Auchincruive, Ayr; a regeneration masterplan for Grade A listed barracks at Berwick-upon-Tweed; and the conversion of a B listed building, with new build alongside, at Trades Lane, Dundee.
Where we work
Across Scotland, including Glasgow, Ayrshire, Edinburgh, Fife, Perthshire, Dundee, Argyll and the Highlands.
